Course Description

The University of Hyderabad Study in India Program SIP emphasizes heritage, continuity and change in India. SIP offers an interdisciplinary program on contemporary India. Topics covered include democracy in India, Indian philosophy, popular culture in India, and economic and political systems. The program is worth five credits. Additionally, students have the option to enroll in a one-credit Hindi course, for a total of six credits.

Past courses offered by SIP include: Historical Diversity; Understanding Democracy in India; Indian Philosophy; India and its Environment; Popular Culture in India; Religion and Politics in India; Muslim Communities in India; Cinema in India; Gender Issues in Contemporary India; Islamic Culture in India; Gender and Health in India; Media in India.
