Study in Canada (in English) - ISEP Exchange
Thompson Rivers University is located in Kamloops, British Columbia, overlooking the junction of the North and South Thompson Rivers. Kamloops and TRU are located on the traditional lands of the Secwepemc peoples. The region is known for spectacular natural landscapes and outdoor recreation such as hiking, fishing, skiing and cycling. The Canadian Rockies and several National Parks are also only a short drive away. Kamloops is one of the sunniest cities in Canada, and enjoys mild winters.
TRU is a comprehensive, learner-centered, environmentally responsible institution that serves its communities through high quality education, training, research and scholarship. With approximately 14,000 full-time students and more than 2,600 international students, TRU offers individualized student services and a diverse, inclusive campus environment.
ISEP students immerse themselves in Canadian culture by taking university classes with local students and living with a local homestay family. The university has an active student body, and ISEP students can participate in sports teams, cultural activities and student groups.

Academics
Other Academic Conditions
The following programs are not available to ISEP students: education, nursing, computing sciences, applied technology programs (respiratory therapy, animal health technology), engineering and faculty of law courses.
Students can only select courses within the Adventure Tourism Program for third and fourth year, and there are additional course fees for which the student is responsible (approx. $600 - $900 CAD).
Non-native English speakers are required to submit a TOEFL or IELTS English Exam to study at TRU. The minmum required score to enroll in regular university courses is 88 for the TOEFL ibt (minumum 20 subscores) or 6.5 for the IELTS (minumum 6.0 sections). If you submit scores below this, you may be required to enroll in part-time or full-time ESL courses. The minumum required score to enroll in ESL courses is 61 for the TOEFL ibt and 5.0 for the IELTS. Students will also have the opportunity to take an English placement exam upon arrival at TRU. If you score higher on the TRU placement exam than your TOEFL/IELTS scores, you may be permitted to enroll in regular university courses. The host university ultimately determines your language level and course eligibility.
Please note that while ESL courses are included in ISEP benefits, ESL courses are considered pre-undergraduate level and do not count toward any academic credit at TRU. The TRU transcript will record ESL grades with the number of credits, but it is at the discretion of your home university if these courses count towards academic credit.
