Study in Germany (in German, English) - ISEP Exchange

Make new friends not only in the classroom but while participating in the extracurricular activities (a buddy program, language tandems, encounters with Trier locals, excursions) offered by the student-run International Center. Social sciences and languages are predominant at Trier, with particularly strong offerings in business administration, economics, geography and geosciences, history, languages, linguistics, applied mathematics, political science, law and psychology. Interdisciplinary focal points of teaching and research are European studies, East Asian studies, environmental studies, information and communication, women and gender studies, and public health.
SCHOLARSHIP
This program qualifies for the ISEP French and German Language Annette Kade Fund Scholarship. The scholarship awards $500 - $1,500 USD to students who are from a U.S. institution and studying French or German language in Austria, France, Germany, Reunion Island, or Switzerland. Learn more here!
Course Description
As an ISEP student, you can build your own program by choosing your courses from a variety of fields. Use the notes for course searching to help you find which courses are available. The searchable course catalog can be found here. To navigate select “English” or “German” on the bottom right of the page. Then click “show all possible search criteria”. Then you can select the teaching language. Once you have completed these steps, you select search and the list of courses will populate.
Please note:
There are nine English taught master programs (data science/ english literatures and media/ environmental sciences / economics / european and east asian governance/ geoinformatics/ applied statistics / international economics & public policy, natural language processing).
All other master programs and all bachelor programs are taught in German. There are few (most of them by the English studies department) to none English taught courses in these programs.
Please note that undergraduate students with background knowledge in a particular major are welcome to register for courses at the graduate level.
Researching courses in English on a German university homepage can sometimes be difficult and confusing. Use the ISEP Guide to Course Selection to learn more about navigating a university website, finding courses in both English and German, and some translations of common words and major fields of study. German Language classes are available to students at all levels. Students can select to only enroll in the pre-exchange German Language course or they can enroll in up to 12-15 ECTS of German Language classes during the lecture period also.
Semester Names - Please note the following term names when looking for courses at Uni Trier:
ISEP Fall Semester = Trier Wintersemester (WiSe)
ISEP Spring Semester = Trier Sommersemester (SoSe)

Students interested in the English language and literature program must have at least a B2 level of English.
PASSPORT: All students must have a valid passport to participate in this program. If you do not have a valid passport, we suggest you start the application process as soon as possible.
