Universidad de Monterrey is located in San Pedro Garza Garcia, a friendly, safe and prosperous suburb that is part of the Monterrey metropolitan area in Mexico’s Nuevo Leon state. Monterrey is an important industrial, commercial and educational center, and enjoys some of Mexico’s highest standards of living. Overall it is an innovative, modern city. The historic Barrio Antiguo retains some traditional charm and is filled cafes, restaurants, nightlife spots, cultural events and museums – this neighborhood is also a popular hangout for Monterrey’s many students in the evenings and on weekends. The city boasts a warm, dry climate and lies in a valley surrounded by stunning mountain ranges, with the Sierra Madre Oriental mountains recognized as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Monterrey has also been ranked among the 100 best student cities in the world!

Universidad de Monterrey was founded in 1969 and offers a unique model of liberal arts education that includes co-curricular activities, integrated internships, community service and volunteering opportunities. UDEM is a community united by the common aspiration of contributing to the construction of a sustainable society through knowledge and the spirit of service.

UDEM has forged a reputation as one of the finest universities in the region - it is ranked among the top 14 universities in Mexico and is 111th in Latin America by QS World University Rankings. UDEM's Business School is AACSB accredited, and the university is accredited in the U.S. by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and in Mexico by the Federation of Private Mexican Universities (FIMPES).

ISEP students immerse themselves in Mexican culture and daily life by taking university classes with local students and living in a residence hall on campus or independently in the community. The university has an active student body, and ISEP students can participate in sports teams, cultural activities and student groups. Internships, community service and volunteering opportunities are all available, and excursions are planned throughout the semester. ISEP students also can be matched with a local UDEM “buddy” to help them navigate life in Monterrey and on campus!

Students are required to take a Spanish proficiency test upon arrival to determine the appropriate level for their Spanish as a second language class (if applicable). The host institution ultimately determines your proficiency level and course eligibility.
