Course Description
The Leibniz University Hannover (LUH) offers a broad range of courses in English, including architecture and landscape science, urban planning, English language and literature, teaching English as a second language, business, finance, marketing, economics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, optics, geoinformatics, and law.
Note: Advanced undergraduate students can usually enroll in both undergraduate and graduate courses (with instructor permission and provided they have the prerequisite knowledge) Thus, it is advisable to also look at the list of master's subject areas taught in English as one will find more courses there.
It is recommended that students take most of their courses from one faculty. At minimum, students must take 50% of their classes from the same department.
Students can check the list of courses currently offered in English as a reference for those that will be offered next year.

Other Academic Conditions
It is preferred that ISEP undergraduate students have at least junior year standing (i.e. be in the 3rd year of their bachelor's degree).
Initial application and learning agreement: When you complete your application form and initial learning agreement (list of planned courses) for Leibniz University Hannover, it is important to list courses from ONE field of study. That is because at LUH, like most German universities, you are affiliated with a faculty and your application will be sent to that faculty for review.
Classes from different areas: After you arrive, you can amend your learning agreement and with permission of other faculties, enroll in their courses as well. In any case, at least 50% of your courses must be in your primary field of study.
Classes taught in English: Students can enroll in all English taught classes, all German taught classes or a mix of English and German classes. Also, it is usually possible to enroll in a class taught in German but write the final paper in English (for students who want improve their German but aren't ready yet to write a paper in German).
Master's courses: Advanced undergraduate students can usually enroll in graduate courses, with instructor permission. This significantly increases the number of courses in English available to incoming exchange students.
Early departure: If a student needs to return home before the semester ends (e.g. because the next semester at his/her home university will start soon), it can sometimes be arranged to complete the courses from abroad. This depends on the type of class and the instructor. If the courses is graded by a term paper that is submitted online, then it usually can be possible. If the courses is graded by an exam and/or presentation, that would be difficult.
PASSPORT: All students must have a valid passport to participate in this program. If you do not have a valid passport, we suggest you start the application process as soon as possible.
VISA/RESIDENCE PERMIT: Most students attending this program will be required to obtain a visa/residence permit. For more information on the process and estimated cost, please review the ISEP Country Handbook here.
