PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

LIFE ABROAD
Excursions & Cultural Experiences
Students improve their Spanish through a combination of classroom instruction and excursions throughout southern Spain that include tapas route, historic and cultural visits to landmarks throughout Almería and trips to the Alhambra in Granada, Cabo de Gata Natural Park, and much more. In addition to daily classes, these trips count toward students' total credit hours.
Housing & Meals
Students further the immersion experience by living with a local homestay family during their time in Almería. Host families provide students with 21 meals per week for the duration of the program.
Explore Almería
Located on the south-eastern coast of Andalucía, Almería lies at the foot of a mountain range and is overlooked by a Moorish fortress called the Alcazaba. Almería is host a busy port, an old town and a bustling boardwalk. The city is the capital of the Almería province, which has a semi-arid desert climate and receives the most sunshine and least rainfall in all of Europe.

Course Description
Students receive five hours of instruction four days a week and participate in excursions, trips and cultural activities outside the classroom for a total of 103 instructional hours and approximately 6 U.S. credits.
Course Content
Students will be required to enroll in two mandatory modules:
-Spanish language
-Local and Spanish culture and cinema
Level of Instruction
The program will be offered at three different levels of language instruction: basic, intermediate and advanced. Students will be placed in the appropriate level after completing a language assessment. The host institution ultimately determines your proficiency level and course eligibility
Academics
Other Academic Conditions
No Language Evaluation is required, but it is strongly recommend that students have taken at least one Spanish language class prior to enrolling in the program at the beginner level.
Passport: All students must have a valid passport to participate in this program. If you do not have a valid passport, we suggest you start the application process as soon as possible.
