Study in Finland (in English) - ISEP Exchange
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
• Experience Finland from Jyväskylä, a student-centered city in the Finnish Lake District where outdoor adventure, sustainability, sports, and student life are part of the local rhythm.
• Take English-taught courses at the University of Jyväskylä — an AACSB-accredited institution — in fields like business, education, psychology, sport studies, and information technology, with standout options in intercultural communication, sport management, and teaching practice.
• Find your place in a vibrant student community with strong tutor support, free Finnish language options through The Centre for Multilingual Academic Communication, student union events, accessible study support, and plenty of ways to connect with Finnish and international students.
LIVE and DINE
Live in a furnished apartment in Kortepohja Student Village, where exchange students have their own private room in a shared apartment with 1–3 roommates, plus a shared common space, kitchen or kitchenette, and bathroom. Housing includes free Wi-Fi and access to study spaces, a club room, gym, sauna, barbecue hut, and opportunities to join community activities planned by the Tenants Activity committee.
As an ISEP Exchange student, you’ll receive a meal stipend to use for groceries at nearby supermarkets or at restaurants located on and off the JYU Campus, many of which offer discounted student prices.
EXPERIENCE
Participate in workshops, info sessions, and events like JYUnity Fest at orientation, where you will also meet your JYU tutor – a fellow student assigned to you who will guide you through a campus, city and library tour, help you learn local transportation, and connect you with other Finnish and international students. Once you’re settled in, practice your Finnish language skills through the Local Friendship Programme or free Finnish language courses offered through The Centre for Multilingual Academic Communication. Take part in social events and activities including movie nights, concerts, club nights, flea markets, theme weeks, and sports events organized by the Student Union and Subject Associations.
Become a member of the Jyväskylä Erasmus Student Network (ESN) and pay an additional fee to join organized trips to the Vesilinna observation tower, or weekend trips to Baltic countries and the Turku archipelago.
What We Love About JYU
We love how vibrant and accessible the student life is at JYU, with plenty of ways for exchange students to get involved and meet both local and international students. The student housing is also a standout, especially with community spaces, sauna access, and the ability to accommodate dependents.
