Study in the Netherlands (in English) - ISEP Exchange
Founded in 1575, Leiden University is known for the quality of its education and research facilities. It is a fully accredited, classical university enrolling over 20,000 students. An increasing number of courses in various disciplines are being taught in English, as are all master’s degree programs. The university library contains a unique collection of old manuscripts and maps, as well as an elaborate collection of prints and drawings. There is an extensive collection of plants and herbs in the botanical gardens and the national herbarium.
HOUSING AND MEALS
ISEP EXCHANGE: Housing (university dorms) and meals (meal stipend) are included per the exchange model. ISEP students will be placed in the Smaragdlaan Building, and will receive a meal stipend based on the cost of living for students in Leiden, which they can use to purchase groceries and cook meals in shared facilities.
ISEP DIRECT: Please note that housing and meals are not included in the program fee. Students will receive guidance on applying for housing in student dormitories, and will be able to use their own funds for groceries and meals in university dining facilities or around campus.
Immerse yourself in a true Dutch experience by renting a bike for the semester and riding 10 minutes to class. Don’t know how to ride a bike? Don’t worry! There are free bicycle lessons during orientation! Otherwise, spend the 30 minute walk to campus admiring local architecture and the beauty of the waterways.
All ISEP students will be expected to budget for their meals accordingly, and can ask their ISEP Student Services Coordinator for tips, as well as check out ISEP's resources for Budgeting for Study Abroad.

Academics
Other Academic Conditions
Students should be entering their third year of study at the time of application. Most courses are intended for students that have completed basic coursework (at least four or five courses) in their field of study prior to exchange.
ISEP recommends that students do NOT register for any psychology courses in the second period of their semester. Exams in the Psychology department often run past ISEP program dates and ISEP cannot guarantee any housing for the additional dates leading up to the exam period in that specific department.
ISEP students may take a maximum of 15 ECTS with the Law Faculty.
PASSPORT: All students must have a valid passport to participate in this program. If you do not have a valid passport, we suggest you start the application process as soon as possible.
VISA/RESIDENCE PERMIT: Most students attending this program will be required to obtain a visa/residence permit. For more information on the process and estimated cost, please review the ISEP Country Handbook here.
