As an ISEP student, you can build your own program by choosing your courses from a variety of fields. Use the notes for course searching to help you find which courses are available.
Exchange students from a variety of disciplines study at the University of Kansas. Most undergraduate courses are open to ISEP students who meet the prerequisite requirements. Strong disciplines at the University of Kansas include modern languages, political science, linguistics, global and international studies, psychology, computer science, engineering, English literature, creative writing, journalism, strategic communications, economics, geography, history, biology, chemistry, environmental studies, physics, architecture, design, fine arts and business.
Undergraduate students typically enroll in four to five classes per term which averages to 12 to 15 hours in class per week. Graduate students typically enroll in three to four classes per term which averages nine to 12 hours in class per week. A term runs 15 weeks.
HOUSING
Housing for exchange students includes a 4 person room in the Jayhawker Towers Apartments.
MEALS
Students will be enrolled in KU’s most comprehensive meal plan for the semester, which includes the equivalent of 19+ meals per week.
*Calendar Year students are not eligible for ISEP housing or meal benefits over the summer break
Course Description
First, find courses you would like to take that are listed in the most recent KU Course Catalog.
Then, select the school you would like to take courses in. With permission, ISEP students may take courses in architecture, design and planning, arts, business, education, engineering, journalism and mass communication, languages, literatures, cultures, liberal arts and sciences, music, social welfare and applied English. Note: Students cannot take courses in the health professions, law, medicine, nursing or pharmacy.
After choosing a school (liberal arts and sciences, for example), click on "Courses" at the top of the page. A list of courses will appear.
Choose courses that sound appropriate or interesting. Not all courses are offered every semester. We cannot guarantee that a course will be available during your semester at KU.
To find out if a course will be offered, please see the schedule of classes.
In the "Search Text" field, enter the course title (for example, thermodynamics) or course code (for example, ME 312). This will pull up a list of courses available by term.
Academics
Other Academic Conditions
ISEP Participants cannot take courses in the School of Law, School of Pharmacy, Schools of Allied Health, Nursing, Medicine, and Engineering Management.
Enrollment in fine arts, music and journalism may be limited or require additional application materials.
PASSPORT: All students must have a valid passport to participate in this program. If you do not have a valid passport, we suggest you start the application process as soon as possible.
