Chukyo University is the ideal study abroad destination for those interested in an immersion experience. Students have an abundance of opportunities, both inside the classroom and out, to interact with Japanese classmates, improve language skills and experience real Japan. Whether it is participating in the campus-wide school festival or visiting the ice skating rink where Chukyo students train to become Olympic champions, students that attend this university are sure to have an experience of a lifetime.
As an ISEP student, you can build your own program by choosing your courses from a variety of fields. Use the notes for course searching to help you find which courses are available.
For all students, there is a wide variety of courses in Japanese culture, history, current affairs and Japanese language (elementary to advanced levels). For those interested in fields relating to the Japanese economy, finance, commerce and management, a program of courses from the School of Commerce, Economics, and Management can be arranged at any level from lower division to graduate.
Though the program runs through January, Fall semester students may return in late December if they plan to return to their home institution for January classes.
Course Description
Chukyo offers courses taught in English to English speakers regardless of their Japanese ability. For more advanced speakers of Japanese, Chukyo also offers courses taught in Japanese with English language assistance. This is a great opportunity for advanced students to integrate themselves into the university environment, get the courses they need and really boost their language skills.
Chukyo also offers Japanese language and culture courses to students who can pass their language proficiency test at the basic level. Students can click here to view information on the Japanese language classes Chukyo University offers for non-native speakers.

Other Academic Conditions
For Japanese language classes, students are required to participate in the Japanese language proficiency test that takes place during orientation week. The beginner level (no previous knowledge required) is offered in the spring semester.
For Japanese-taught classes, students are highly recommended to have a minimum language proficiency equal to or above JLPT N2. However, this is not to be considered as a language requirement for the study abroad itself in any case.
