Virtual Service Learning Internship and Latin American Studies (in English, Spanish)
Interested in Latin American culture and passionate about furthering social justice? Advance social change and enroll in up to three courses through this hybrid study and virtual service-learning internship program. Get a taste for Chilean culture and meet locals through workshops on Chilean cuisine and traditional Checa dancing.
Participate in a service-learning project at a local Valparaiso community organization, with the opportunity to also enroll in a variety of courses in subjects like human rights, environmental issues and the history and culture in Latin America.
Gain program design and evaluation skills through this 6-credit service-learning internship course. You’ll be placed at a local Valparaíso organization that compliments your studies and interests. Over the course of the semester, work together with classmates and program stakeholders to complete the project from design, execution to evaluation. The course follows a format of two months of theory, workshops and classroom learning followed by the two months of work with the community organization. This internship pairs well with the Comunicación Intercultural course.
PUCV is dedicated to fostering global citizens and courses are centered around social responsibility, community engagement and broadening cultural understanding.
