PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

• Vibrant and diverse, London is the perfect study abroad destination! Take in a show, explore a world-class museum, spend an evening in the local pub, explore one of the many green spaces, try curries and other cuisines from around the world, or just enjoy a good book and a cup of tea!

• Take advantage of Roehampton’s unique London Studies program! The immersive classes take students out of the classroom and into the city, using one of the world's greatest capitals as the backdrop for learning.

• Enjoy all that London offers while enjoying campus life at Roehampton! The traditional, park-like campus offers exceptional, community-focused residential life, and the Roehampton Student Union organizes events and activities on campus and throughout London each week.

• Take a break from the hustle of London in Richmond Park, London’s largest park and green space, which is just a few steps from the Roehampton campus, or explore nearby Richmond, a riverside community featured in Ted Lasso!

LIFE ABROAD

Study in southwest London at the park-like campus of the University of Roehampton! A wide variety of academic options are available in addition to the popular London Studies program. The campus is dedicated to cultivating a supportive learning environment and close-knit campus community, and past ISEP students rank the Roehampton team among the best staff of ISEP’s programs! Join one of Roehampton’s four colleges—they each offer support services and social activities, and they compete against each other each year for the college cup.

LIVE

Live right on campus and walk to your classes! Choose from three housing categories, each with single occupancy bedrooms and shared facilities, typically with six local and international students. Your accommodation includes a bedroom and kitchen pack with all the essentials. Residential college membership offers activities and support to help you settle into campus life. Each residence includes on-site resident assistance, 24/7 security, and internet access. For an additional cost, choose between housing upgrades featuring private bathrooms, queen beds, and balconies.

DINE

Cook with friends in your residence hall, grab something on campus, or enjoy one of the many nearby neighborhood restaurants. The Hive Café, an ethical and environmentally friendly coffee shop, is a popular place to meet up with friends right on campus. Each of Roehampton’s four colleges offers its own dining option, and South London is brimming with street food, restaurants, coffee shops, pubs, and more. If you're seeking traditional British fare, be sure to try fish and chips, pie and mash, Cornish pasties, or a full English breakfast!

ISEP Exchange

As an ISEP Exchange student, you'll receive a catering package that covers all your meal costs for the semester. You'll be allocated credit that can be spent at various on-campus dining locations, ensuring your meals are taken care of throughout your stay.

ISEP Direct

ISEP Direct students should plan to budget for their meals, as no meal plan is included. Grocery stores, including Tesco and the Roehampton Supermarket, are conveniently located within 1-2 miles of campus. You can opt to purchase an optional meal plan from the University of Roehampton, which allows you to use your credit on anything, at any time, across campus. Sample dishes include Caribbean jerk veggie curry, katsu pork with sticky rice, and grilled chicken with mustard and cola glaze.

EXPERIENCE

Wander through art and history exhibits at nearby South London museums like the Victoria and Albert, or cheer on the local team at various sporting venues. For nights out, join the Roehampton Student Union on organized trips to spots like Le Fez in Putney or The Grand in Clapham (transportation provided!). On campus, it’s easy to get involved! Yoga classes, roller skating, film screenings, gardening, game nights, swing dance, writer’s nights, and religious fellowship are all part of the weekly schedule. Roehampton also boasts excellent facilities for esports and gaming, and an active esports society that competes nationally.

ISEP Direct students are automatically enrolled in the Roehampton Abroad Social Programme, offering highlights of London and the UK, including a weekend away, a night out in the West End theatre district, or a cruise along the Thames. ISEP Exchange students can choose to opt in to the Social Programme for an additional fee.

EXPLORE

Living in London means there’s always something new to do or see, but it’s also easy to travel throughout the British Isles and Europe. Low-cost airlines make it affordable and fast to fly to popular destinations like Barcelona, Rome, and Prague. Trains and buses keep the rest of England, Scotland, and Wales accessible too. Spend a weekend hiking in the Cotswolds or relaxing seaside in Brighton!

THRIVE

UR provides a welcoming environment for under-represented student groups. On campus, you’ll find gender neutral toilets, disability services, and resources for mature (non-traditional) students. Find mental health support with on-campus counseling and therapy services, plus an NHS medical center with general health services. Relax in a peaceful and academically focused environment in designated non-alcoholic spaces and quiet residences. Bond with other students in a variety of student groups and sports/activity communities. Holistically support your needs, and the needs of the community, through the UR Students’ Union, which promotes programming including wellbeing support, financial support & advice, and community pantries/refrigerators. Stay active through fitness facilities, team sports, and group exercise options.

London Studies Program

Roehampton’s popular London Studies program offers credit-bearing coursework exploring the history, culture, and legacy of London. These courses are included for ISEP Direct students, ISEP Exchange students will pay an additional fee to the university directly.

What We Love About Roehampton

London is such a fun and vibrant city! It’s easy to imagine it as a traditional, historic British city, which it certainly is, but everywhere you go you hear a different language and witness an incredible mix of cultures, cuisines, and religions. Plus, the welcoming and supportive campus environment at Roehampton is perfect for anyone a bit nervous about going abroad!
