As an ISEP student, you can build your own program by choosing your courses from a variety of fields. Use the notes for course searching to help you find which courses are available.
*This program option is specifically for students interested in humanities, social studies, business, and education. For STEM studies, see the "Science & Engineering Program", as STEM studies may incur additional fees.
The University of Botswana offers a variety of courses in the faculties of humanities, Social Studies, business, and education.
The University is widely known for African studies, environmental science, humanities and social sciences. The science and engineering departments have well-equipped laboratory facilities which are comparable to those found in the developed world.
Independent study, volunteer and internship opportunities are available in Botswana. OIEP staff and some of your instructors will help set these up for you. There are several NGOs in Botswana that you may be able to work with. In the field of gender and development, you may be able to work with an NGO focusing on safety and legal rights for women; if you are interested in environmental issues you may want to work on conservation or forestry projects. There are also opportunities in the creative arts, health (such as HIV/AIDS support), human rights, economic development (such as micro-finance projects) and children/youth NGOs. A list of potential opportunities can be requested from the ISEP Student Services Coordinator, Joey Haavik.

Course Description
The easiest way to find courses is to download the University of Botswana Course Catalog. While some departments offer short course descriptions, many do not. Syllabi for the University of Botswana are NOT available for advanced course approval. Because of this, Students should have course flexibility, as course availability is subject to change on arrival. If students cannot locate short descriptions in the course catalog, students should email the ISEP Student Advisor for Botswana to see if they may be available on request.
