This program provides a unique opportunity for international student to experience life and learning on a small liberal arts campus in a vibrant, metropolitan area. The rich and diverse curriculum includes over 800 courses each year, taught by faculty who are recognized internationally for their scholarship and discoveries. Students have the opportunity to participate in mentorship and host family programs designed for international students, local service opportunities through the Civic Engagement Center, and various intercultural activities with domestic and other international students.

HOUSING

 

On campus dormitory housing available for students. Laundry services are available onsite. After acceptance, Residential Life will assign housing for students based on housing availability. 

MEALS

All exchange students have a meal plan to eat on-campus. Dining options include Café Mac, the Grille, Nessie’s, Atrium Market, and Scotty’s. Café Mac posts their daily menus online. Once you arrive, you will have the option of changing between different meal plans to select the balance of meals and flex dollars you prefer. 

*Calendar Year students are not eligible for ISEP housing or meal benefits over the summer break

Course Description

1. Go to “Class schedules and registration” page

2. Click on the term class schedule you will be attending Macalester. For example “Spring 2017 class schedule”

3. Select any area of study you’re interested in enrolling, which will display class schedule and enrollment

Soon after acceptance, Macalester will contacts students via email asking for course preferences and then register students for those courses.

Other Academic Conditions

Incoming exchange students cannot enroll in first-year courses (FYC) or senior capstone courses. 

The following academic departments have limited enrollment: Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Media and Cultural Studies, and Studio Art. 

PASSPORT: All students must have a valid passport to participate in this program. If you do not have a valid passport, we suggest you start the application process as soon as possible.
