Fall Semester Only

The French Humanities program at Université Le Havre Normandie enables international students to discover the French humanities during a semester that explores French language, history, literature, civilization and culture. This program is an opportunity to discover the homeland of the enlightenment, human rights, arts, gastronomy, fashion, and cinema while embarking on an intensive course of French as a Foreign Language.

The included extracurricular activities are an excellent way for international students to meet people, improve their French language skills and integrate more fully into the community through a schedule of exchanges with local French students, cultural tours, exhibits, dance programs, theater shows and more. Additional activities beyond those offered by this program are organized by the university's International Office and include a Christmas party, bowling, Languages Café with French and international students, and a picnic at the beach integrated into the French Intensive course.

This program is only offered during the fall semester. Interested students are encouraged to enroll in the Fall French Humanities + Spring Regular University Courses full year program.

HOUSING AND MEALS

ISEP students live in a university residence hall and recieve a meal stipend.

Course Description

A rich program of a minimum 150 hours of coursework combined with an exceptional cultural experience in the heart of the Normandy region, students mix coursework with engagement in the student life of the multicultural Campus Le Havre Normandie. The program encourages exchanges between French and international students, creating an ideal environment to learn French.

Designated skills and proficiency:

- Intensive French language-learning

- Knowledge building in the targeted fields (literature, French language and history of France)

- Development of further cultural knowledge (theater, cinema, youth literature and French music)

- Realization of an individual documentary research project in French

Students who are required by their home institution to enroll in more than 22 ECTS (150 instructional hours) during the semester can easily supplement program coursework in a variety of ways. Possibilities include enrolling in a regular university course in French or English, a for-credit placement in a local school and other tailorable credit-bearing volunteering opportunities. Please contact the ISEP Student Advisor for France to discuss your options.
