ITESO is located in the vibrant city of Guadalajara, the capital of Mexico’s Jalisco state. The city is not only an important industrial, commercial and financial center for Mexico, it is also a cultural hub and is considered to be the birthplace of tequila and Mariachi music. The city hosts numerous world-renowned events throughout the year, including an International Mariachi Festival, International Film Festival and International Book Fair. In the historic city center, students can marvel at the gorgeous colonial architecture, relax in one of the picturesque plazas and green parks, or pay a visit to one of the numerous museums, theatres and galleries, including the famous Teatro Degollado and Hospicio Cabañas. Guadalajara also boasts Latin America’s largest indoor market, the Mercado San Juan de Dios. The combination of modern amenities with rich history, traditions and culture make Guadalajara an ideal location to live and study.

Founded in 1957, ITESO is a Jesuit university characterized by its academic excellence, humanistic style of education and social consciousness. ITESO is recognized as an institution of academic excellence by Mexico's Ministry of Public Education, and the university's faculty are known as leaders in their fields. The safe and inviting campus boasts innovative and cutting-edge facilities, as well as manicured gardens and eucalyptus trees.

ISEP students immerse themselves in Mexican culture and daily life by taking university classes with local students and living with a host family or independently in the community. At ITESO, students can participate in volunteering opportunities alongside their studies. The university also organizes excursions, cultural events and art programs for international students to learn more about Mexican culture. As an ISEP student, you have the opportunity to be matched with an ITESO "buddy" to help you adjust to life in Guadalajara!
