Other Academic Conditions

For Japanese-taught coursework, Chuo recommends that students have passed Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level N3. This is required for students enrolling in Science and Engineering Faculty classes, which are located on the Korakuen, an hour away from ISEP student housing on the Tama campus. For English-taught courses, no Japanese language is required, however, Chuo requires students to study the katakana and hiragana writing systems prior to attending classes.

Graduate students will need to work with Chuo to arrange a faculty advisor prior to placement. Please contact your Student Services Officer prior to applying if you plan to study graduate-level classes at Chuo so that they can connect you with a faculty advisor. Students interested in graduate-level coursework should reach out at least two months prior to submitting their ISEP application to begin this process.

Students applying to Chuo must include a study plan in their application. Please attach this to your application under "additional documents" before you submit.
