Open to both male and female exchange participants, Ewha University offers a dynamic location just 10 minutes from South Korea’s capital city. Centrally located in East Asia, Seoul is a global city, integrating traditional and contemporary life. 

Students who want to know what it means to live like a local in all areas of the country will have no excuse not to when the transportation is as brilliant as it is in Seoul. There really are no excuses for not exploring nearby towns will charming arts and culture. Just a short distance to the west, you can access Incheon’s port – where the modern world entered Korea. Just south, you’ll run into Suwon, most known for its World Heritage fortifications built by Joseon dynasty ruler King Jeongjo. 

Inside the classroom, students have the opportunity to study across a variety of different fields and also further their language skills through the intensive Korean language program on campus. Outside of the classroom, students can take advantage of the buddy program, participate in cultural parties, and view Korean arts and performances. Students are sure to improve their Korean and make lasting memories at Ewha University.

To view a list of all classes, select the most recent semester that corresponds to the one you plan to attend. Semester 1 is Spring, semester 2 is Fall. Ewha also offers Korean language courses during their program.

Course Availability

Undergraduate: General courses are available

- Restrictions may apply to Art & Design, Music, ELTEC Engineering, and the Scranton Honors Program. Students need to be proficient in Korean to take Studio Art courses.
- Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Education are not available to exchange students.

Graduate: General courses are available - please see eligibility requirements under "Other Academic Conditions."

- Some courses in the Graduate School of International Studies are available.
- English-taught courses of School of Law are available.
- Courses in the Graduate School of Business courses are available for graduate students only.
- The Professional Schools, the Special Graduate Schools are not available, except those mentioned above.

Ewha does not require any proof of English language proficiency. As long as you're confident you can follow classes in English or Korean, you are welcome to apply.

There is an internal application procedure through Ewha’s own Eureka portal once students have been confirmed for their ISEP program. Students will have to submit documentation to Ewha via post mail to receive visa-related paperwork. Students from non-OECD countries will need to submit an academic background (apostilled certificate of enrollment) to receive their Certificate of Admission.

Other Academic Conditions

Due to housing restrictions, Exchange students can only enroll for single semesters. Only Direct students can enroll for a Full Year placement.

Undergraduate applicants must have completed one full semester at their home university before applying to Ewha and must have the equivalent of a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Graduate students must provide official transcript of graduate-level studies. Undergraduate level GPA is not considered. Graduate level students must have completed one full semester at their home university before applying to Ewha.

PASSPORT: All students must have a valid passport to participate in this program. If you do not have a valid passport, we suggest you start the application process as soon as possible.

VISA/RESIDENCE PERMIT: Most students attending this program will be required to obtain a visa/residence permit. For more information on the process and estimated cost, please review the ISEP Country Handbook here.
