Study in England (in English) - ISEP Direct
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Nottingham Trent University is one of the largest universities in the U.K. We have approximately 27,000 students (HESA 2014 / 15) and have invested £350 million since 2003 across our three campuses to create an inspiring learning environment.
NTU is one of the most sustainable universities in the world and we have been awarded Green Flags for our Brackenhurst and Clifton campuses. We offer great employment prospects to students at all levels. 94% of our graduates and 95% of our postgraduates are employed or engaged in further study six months after leaving (according to DLHE undergraduate and postgraduate survey results 2014 / 15).
A massive 93% of our students would recommend studying at NTU (National Student Survey 2016). We’re ranked in the top 20 universities in the UK for our teaching quality (Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016). Our enthusiastic, experienced staff work hard to provide the best learning experience possible.
We're proud of the quality of student experience we provide – we're committed to ensuring that your time living and learning in Nottingham is everything it should be. We welcome students and staff from over 160 countries, and we’ve got 200 partner institutions in 35 countries.
Nottingham is a world-class student destination, with its thriving arts scene and top shopping, international sports facilities and award-winning nightlife. According to the 2015 Natwest Student Living Index, it’s also the UK’s third most cost-effective student city.
HOUSING
ISEP Students will be accommodated in Sandby Hall, a local student dormitory with 24-hr security and a cleaning service. Students are able to travel by bus to NTU campuses. Please note that an additional process is required to sign up for housing.
MEALS
ISEP Exchange students will receive a meal stipend based on the cost of living for students in Nottingham, which they can use to purchase groceries and cook meals in shared facilities. This stipend is only issued after students open a UK bank account and provide this information to their host coordinator. Students arriving earlier due to differences in School start dates will receive additional funds.
ISEP Direct students do not receive meal benefits and will be expected to use their own funds for meals.
All ISEP students will be expected to budget for their meals accordingly, and can ask their ISEP Student Services Officer for tips, as well as check out ISEP's resources for Budgeting for Study Abroad.

As most exchange students enter Year 2 of a program at NTU, we require that applicants have some basic coursework in the subject area - this coursework must be indicated on the student's transcript. NTU ISEP Coordinator will review a transcript along with home course content to ensure the student meets pre-requisites for year 2 modules. Unlike the American university system, at NTU you cannot generally study across programs or departments. For students interested in a broad offering, the department of Arts & Humanities is recommended - ISEP students can mix and match from the modules.

Other Academic Conditions
Students coming from America/Canada should make a note of NTU term dates and consider that the examination period for Semester One will impact on their return to their home institution for Semester Two. The official end of Semester One at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is the end of January, however as we understand that Semester 2 in your home country starts at the beginning of January, we will allow you to leave at the end of the Term One (in mid-December).
Please note that the Christmas Break at NTU is mid-December through early January. If you do leave before the Christmas break then please bear in mind that you will miss the last three weeks of classes from early to late January, and you should contact your NTU module leaders for information on any work that you miss. If you choose NTU Module (class) that finishes with exam you will also not be present at NTU for the exams which take place during the last week of the semester, and you will therefore need to make arrangements to sit your exams at your home university. NTU cannot guarantee that if a student chooses to leave before the end of the exchange semester that they will be able to facilitate an overseas examination for the affected modules. There may be a charge involved in any overseas exams requests.
Further information on what you need to do to set up these arrangements will be emailed to you when the exam timetables are released.
LANGUAGE NOTES
Please review our NTU English language requirements for both EU students/ international students joining NTU for one semester, as well as the English language requirements for international students joining NTU for one year (Tier 4 visa holders) prior to application. It is possible for students with a 6.0 overall IELTS score to still be considered, depending on the School they are applying to. Please check with your ISEP Student Advisor prior to applying.
Please note that UK Visas and Immigration will not accept TOEFL as proof of English ability for any student visa application.
**Students are responsible for staying until the end of the semester and may not leave before the final date of their semester exams. Neither ISEP nor NTU can guarantee an early departure; leaving early may result in a failing exam grade and/or forfeit of credit.
PASSPORT: All students must have a valid passport to participate in this program. If you do not have a valid passport, we suggest you start the application process as soon as possible.
VISA/RESIDENCE PERMIT: Most students attending this program will be required to obtain a visa/residence permit. For more information on the process and estimated cost, please review the ISEP Country Handbook here.
