As an ISEP student, you can build your own program by choosing your courses from a variety of fields. Use the notes for course searching to help you find which courses are available.

The University of Debrecen offers a number of English language programs, mainly in the fields of English and North American studies, natural sciences, computer science, engineering, business and economics, gender studies, drama studies and British studies. Additional courses may be started on demand and one on one tutorials may be given to students with specific needs. Students may also contact professors directly prior to admission with course requests.

 

HOUSING

Students live in double rooms in a dormitory.

 

MEALS

Students receive a monthly meal stipend. Students may purchase meals at the university restaurants or prepare their own food; grocery stores are close by. Accomodations include cooking facilities.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY

Non-native English speaker students will be interviewed through Skype to confirm their level of English. Students should be able to demonstrate English language skills equivalent to the B2 level according to the Common European Framework Of Reference for Languages.

TAKING COURSES ACROSS FACULTIES/DEPARTMENTS

Due to the location of courses and Hungarian academic system, cross-registration across faculties/departments may be difficult. Students intending to take courses from a variety of disciplines should be aware that timetables may clash across faculties, and are encouraged to take the majority of their courses within one faculty.

EARLY EXAMS - FALL SEMESTER

Students should be aware that most exams take place during January for the fall semester. In many cases early examination arrangements are possible, however students are responsible for making these arrangements with their professors on an individual basis.

SEMESTER TERMS

When selecting courses, please keep in mind the semester in which each course is offered. The bulletins will indicate the semesters in which a course is offered in one of two ways. 

1. Sem = Semester

- Sem 1 = Fall 

- Sem 2 = Spring

2. Autumn Semester = Fall and Spring Semester = Spring

PASSPORT: All students must have a valid passport to participate in this program. If you do not have a valid passport, we suggest you start the application process as soon as possible. 

VISA/RESIDENCE PERMIT: Most students attending this program will be required to obtain a visa/residence permit. For more information on the process and estimated cost, please review the ISEP Country Handbook here.
