PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

With history dating back to the 13th century, Universidad Complutense de Madrid is one of the oldest and best-known universities in the world. UCM is consistently ranked as one of the top universities in Spain, and  is one of the 100 best universities in the world in employability and academic prestige, according to the QS World University Ranking. The university is well known in the areas of philosophy, fine arts, law and humanities. The campus is located in the Moncloa neighborhood of Madrid and is easily accessible by bus and metro.

Madrid has been named a top 50 best student city in the world!

HOUSING AND MEALS

ISEP students at UCM reside in a single room in an assigned colegio mayor (hall of residence) and receive a dining hall meal plan that provides 20 meals per week.

The colegios mayores offer a wide range of student services and a program of recreational activities throughout the year, including cinema, concerts, sports, trips, dance, theater, and photography.  Living in a colegio mayor is a fantastic way to integrate into university life, as the colegios mayores have their own traditions and history and each offers the opportunity to belong to a community where academics, traditional events and intercollegiate sporting rivalries all play key roles.

Other Academic Conditions

The level of studies at Complutense and the large size of the university requires that students be especially mature, motivated and fluent in Spanish. Students must submit a Language Evaluation with at least a B2 level of Spanish, and a C1 level is highly recommended.

Some faculties have higher Spanish language requirements at the C1 or C2 level. This includes the Geography and History Faculty, Communication Sciences, the Journalism Faculty, Commerce and Tourism, and most notably Spanish language and literature courses in the Facultad de Filología.

Candidates must have at least junior-year status. Due to housing restrictions, ISEP only accepts full year candidates.

First-year courses are oversubscribed and, therefore, closed to ISEP participants. Enrollment in fine arts and computer sciences is limited. The faculty of medicine is closed to ISEP participants.
