Study in Brazil - Portuguese Language & Brazilian Culture (in Portuguese) - ISEP Exchange
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
• Attracting visitors from all over the world, São Paulo is a diverse international city, but with its own distinct local flare. With street art on nearly every corner, the city is brimming with creativity, color, and energy.
• Build your Portuguese skills not simply by studying the language but by exploring the history, culture, literature and identity of the people of Brazil.
• Today, FAAP is considered one of the most important and respected academic and cultural institutions in Brazil, giving you access to high quality faculty and world-class facilities.
• Take part in the city’s most popular sport by joining a futebol (or soccer) team and competing with natives who live and breathe the sport. Or have an out-of-the-box experience by participating in the brand-new sport of beach tennis, a mixture of beach volleyball, tennis, and badminton (available to play on one of the on-campus sand courts).
LIFE ABROAD
With a population of almost 12 million inhabitants that are made up of over 70 nationalities, São Paulo is an international city that offers diversity, vibrancy, and culture. Experience dancing the Samba during Carnaval, strut the runway at the São Paulo Fashion Week, or show your pride at the largest Pride parade in the world.
LIVE
Live with Brazilian or other international students in a shared student apartment off-campus. Students will share a room, kitchen and bathroom with another student. There is also an option to upgrade to a single room for an additional fee. The student apartment includes a coworking space, games room and gym. Students are usually housed in the private residence Share Student Living, though housing can vary depending on availability.
DINE
Dig into São Paulo’s rich street food culture or visit a local food market where you can purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, spices, and more to create your own meals. We recommend budgeting around $3,000 per semester for dining.
EXPERIENCE
FAAP offers plenty of opportunities to connect socially with other students through cultural expeditions, volunteer opportunities, and events. Some examples of past activities include a newcomer's party, a Capoeira class (an art form with elements of martial arts, dance, acrobatics, music, and spirituality), cooking classes, jewelry workshops, samba and forró dance classes, and much more!
EXPLORE
There are endless places for you to explore throughout Brazil, including destinations that will have you checking multiple items off your bucket list. Trek through the Amazon Rainforest, admire the spectacular Iguaçu Falls, or visit a coffee farm to discover why Brazil has some of the best coffee beans in the world.
What We Love About FAAP
Located in Higienópolis, one of the most traditional districts of São Paulo, Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado is one of the most prominent institutions promoting arts and culture in the region. We particularly love this program because of the on-campus access to artistic opportunities like the Brazilian Art Museum, the FAAP Theater, and workshops on wood, metal, jewelry-making, and more.
