Only 6 miles from the Mediterranean coast, Montpellier is a vibrant city with a large university population. Montpellier also offers a rich medieval history and a unique mélange of Mediterranean cultures.

Students can take regular university courses alongside French students, choosing from a wide variety of departments to design a schedule that fits their academic needs. Known as one of the best French-language training centers in the nation, UPV has a unique program that provides training on how to teach French as a Foreign Language with research in socio-linguistics and teaching methodology. Other strengths include classic and modern literature with a special focus on francophone literatures, history and geography, political science, international relations and philosophy.

ISEP students also have access to the support courses ("Cours RI") offered by the International Relations Office and designed for international students, provided they take a specific placement test before arrival. Every semester, up to 7 hours of classes will be offered in French as a Foreign Language, Phonetics and Composition, and, depending on the semester, between 5 and 7 hours of classes will be offered in areas such as History, Culture, Literature, Theatre, Cinema etc.

So as to preserve the immersion dimension of the program, students must enroll in a minimum of two regular unversity courses per semester from any field open to ISEP students. Students may NOT enroll exclusively in Cours RI.

See the ISEP France top-site planner for a focused summary of the best sites in France for a popular range of subject fields.
