For almost 175 years — longer than Oregon, Washington and California have been states — Willamette University has provided rigorous and personalized education to students who have gone on to shape the political, economic, social and artistic character of the northwest and the world. Willamette professors are internationally recognized scholars. WU leverages our collaborative community and Pacific Northwest setting as we challenge students to transform knowledge into action — the foundation of a successful career and a meaningful life. With numerous academic departments to choose from, our location across the street from the Oregon State Capitol, diverse research programs and rich opportunities for global learning, WU is a welcoming community for ISEP students.

HOUSING

The benefit covers standard multiple occupancy rooms. Willamette University provides a variety of housing options. Students who choose to live in single rooms, suites or in campus apartments must pay the additional costs themselves.

Students can rent a "bed pack" from the university.

Fall and Spring Breaks: Residence halls remain open during breaks within the semester period, but there are no food services on campus.

Academic Year ISEP students are encouraged to select a campus apartment.

MEALS

Willamette offers 19 meals per week dining plan and assumes one meal per meal period. Additionally $50 Dining Flex Dollars are placed on your student ID card that can be used like a declining balance.

Calendar Year students are not eligible for ISEP housing or meal benefits over the summer break.

Course Description

As a small liberal arts college, it is typical to take two classes towards a student's major and two other courses in other academic disciplines in one semester. Additionally, not all classes listed in the catalog are offered every semester. Review Willamette University's Undergraduate Programs webpage to see all degrees offered.

Use the Course Catalog webpage to see available classes and the terms offered. Be sure to look at courses offered at the Salem campus (not Portland, or Remote). Keep in mind that classes might not be offered in a particular semester, and course schedules may not be announced until after a student has committed to their ISEP program. To avoid any issues, review previous semester course schedules which can be an indication of offerings of subsequent semesters.

Tips for Finding Courses:

Students should first look at the various degree programs offered at Willamette, specifically those offered through Willamette College and on their Salem campus.

Click on degree program of interest and click “Learn more about...” that degree program. Review the information about the degree program and select the ‘Courses’ link under the Curriculum header. This will list all of the courses required for the degree program, including information about course prerequisites, which semesters it is offered, and credit amount.

Next, Check the course availability on the course catalogue. The course catalogue will only list courses of current terms, and students can see what is currently being offered in order to plan for their semester at Willamette.

Fall course schedules are typically posted in February. Spring course schedules are typically posted in October.

Course Restrictions:

Students can expect to take 2 courses in their field of study, and 2 electives that meet the liberal arts philosophy of Willamette University.

Graduate courses are not available to ISEP students.

Auditions are required for admission to some music (instrument and voice) courses and performance ensembles. Extra tuition charges for music lessons, art classes and activity (e.g. skiing) courses are not covered by ISEP benefits.

Certain syllabi may be available in advance to prospective students; contact your ISEP Student Services Officer (SSO).
