Providence University offers courses in foreign languages and literature, humanities and social sciences, physical sciences and mathematics, management, computing and informatics, computer science and information management, and service learning development.

Students have the option of taking either Mandarin language classes alongside their English-taught electives, or devote their time to intensive Mandarin language curriculum.

Course Description

Students can view Providence's full course list page for their general course offerings in the Fall and Spring semesters. Click here to find Providence's course catalog page and to view syllabi.

Undergraduate students can also enroll in graduate-level courses, taught in English through the college of management and the college of computing and informatics.

At Providence, each regular course is 2 or 3 credits, and the maximum number of credits exchange students can take is 22. Students have several options for arranging their coursework:

1. 10 hours of Mandarin course and 3-4 regular English taught course

2. 15 hours of Mandarin course plus 2 regular English taught courses

3. All regular courses (no Chinese language course)

Take a look at the Chinese Language Education Center's course listings for information on Mandarin class levels. Students can determine the academic level of courses in the second column of the course catalog. Next to each course name, 一 means first year/beginner level, 二 means second year, and 三 means third year/advanced level.
