LIVE and DINE
Settle into comfortable furnished student accommodation just a 10-minute bus or bike ride from either campus. Your accommodation comes equipped with everyday essentials, including laundry facilities, saunas, bicycle storage, and shared social spaces. You’ll receive a meal stipend that can be used for groceries or meals at campus restaurants. Head into town and stop by Tampere’s historic Market Hall where you can indulge in traditional Finnish favorites like karjalanpiirakka, a traditional Finnish pastry with a rich, creamy filling, or leipäjuusto, a mild Finnish cheese often served warm with cloudberry jam or coffee.

Before arriving, you'll be paired with a student tutor who will help you navigate daily life in Tampere. From practical advice to local recommendations, your tutor will provide valuable support as you settle into life in Finland. Make the most of your experience beyond the classroom. Get involved in TU’s vibrant campus community, supported by the Student Union of Tampere University (TREY), and connect with fellow students through organizations such as INTO Tampere and ESN FINT. Course Description

Many courses offer multiple completion methods - such as exam‑only, fully online, or independent self‑study formats - so be sure to review the available options carefully. For each course and completion method, please also check the language of instruction and any required prerequisites. The Curriculum includes a range of filters that make it easy to refine your search and identify suitable course units.
- Teaching periods I-II take place in the autumn semester (August - December)
- Teaching periods III-IV are held during the spring semester (January - May)

Academics
Other Academic Conditions
Third- and fourth-year undergraduate students may take graduate-level (master’s) courses at Tampere University. In the curriculum, these are listed as advanced studies. Sophomore students are generally limited to basic and intermediate studies (bachelor’s level) and must have completed comparable coursework at their home university. Passport: All students must have a valid passport for the duration of the programme. If you need to apply for or renew a passport, start the process as early as possible.
